Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Bangor public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Downtown snow removal parking zones
Downtown parking bans during snow removal can last days and hurt residents and businesses. The new plan splits downtown into east/west zones so only one zone bans parking at a time, with signs and outreach to help people adapt.
Citywide pavement markings refresh
Thousands of crosswalks and lane markings have faded, creating safety risks. Teelon caught an error in his budget and wants $200,000 shifted from other projects to repaint 8,000+ markings citywide.
Road paving funding shortfall
The $1.5 million annual paving budget only reaches about 2.5% of Bangor's 400 lane miles. Teelon says the city needs to hit roughly 10% and will ask for up to $6 million next year — a big potential tax-rate item councilors want to study before deciding.
